Portsmouth v United
After the disappointing draw against Reading, United face one hell of a trip. We have won only one of our last four games at Fratton Park and now we are without a fully fit striker for the game...
Yet I believe there's a good chance that the lads will rise to the occasion. Pompey is not the kind of the team that sets out to defend in numbers at home. We'll have more space than we had against Reading.
Of course, I would be surprised if 'Arry Redknapp opted for a cavalier approach - in that case, our lightning-fast attackers would rip them apart. But I still hope we'll be able to produce good counter-attacks and take all the three points.
Losing more points could be fatal but of course it's still very early. Chelsea are in action, too and their is no easy task, we know that from first hand as they visit Reading. Liverpool and Arsenal are on Champions League duty therefore even another stumble could be affordable.
But I think we need to win, we should not turn our start into a stuttering one as that could be a huge disadvantage.
Sir Alex Ferguson: 'Fratton Park is not an easy place to go to.'
'It means Portsmouth have a big advantage overall in terms of their likely home record.
'Harry has made a few interesting additions too, especially Muntari, who we have watched quite a bit.
'He actually came over to us as a kid along with Michael Essien but at the time we couldn't do anything because of the work permit situation.'
Carlos Tevez: 'I feel a wonderful amount of relief now to actually be here at Manchester United and I'm now getting myself prepared for the games that are coming up.
'It is a dream to wear the Manchester United shirt and it will also be a dream to win the title which we will all be working for this season.
'I feel like I have grown a lot, particularly with a year at West Ham. I think every different club in football you are with, be it in Italy, Spain or Brazil, you learn different things and you try to take things from each club.
'It is a huge learning curve but I feel I have grown as a player now I'm just getting ready to play for Manchester United.
'It's very important to be happy myself but also to be able to make the people who support Manchester United happy.'
Portsmouth Team News:
Sol Campbell and Pedro Mendes are struggling with groin injuries but the former is definitely expected to be fit while the latter has a chance. Gary O'Neil should be back after an ankle injury. John Utaka and David Nugent both made their debuts on the opening day so we should prepare for them.
Player to watch: Matthew Taylor
He will return to his usual position on the left and Wes Brown will have a difficult time against him.
Manchester United Team News:
Mikael Silvestre is struggling with an injury picked up against Reading so Evra will revert into his usual role, probably Nani will occupy the left wing. Rooney is unavailable of course so Tevez will start and there's an outside chance of Saha being included in the squad. Gary Neville is still far away from a return but Anderson and Hargreaves might be on the bench.
Player to watch: Carlos Tevez
Who else? He will make his United debut.
