Now this is one big thing. Many complained that we do not have enough local talent coming through and none of the lads have a chance of holding down a regular first-team spot.
Fergie, however, had hinted before that Danny Welbeck could be a superstar. And his progress looks set to be accelerated due to the shortage of strikers in the first team: he may even start tomorrow against City!
'I may bring in the boy Welbeck, possibly from the start,' Fergie said.
'The boy has a chance of making it. We think he has that temperament.
'I think we want to keep Cristiano Ronaldo as a wide player, so we are short up front. Louis Saha is not back and we could have played Ryan Giggs through the middle but I think Welbeck has got the temperament.
'We will see tomorrow but I need to be very, very clear about everyone's fitness.'
Now, I would love it. His style would complement Tevez finely and possibly his enthusiasm would make up for lack of experience - and maybe it's possible that City won't take him seriously. I support the idea of starting him, it can't possibly do any harm for the boy.
