'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fergie hails Ronaldo (AUDIO)

If ever a scoreline has not been a fair reflection of the match, then surely this was it. United's awesome display simply swept Portsmouth away at Old Trafford, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring his 26th and 27th goal in all competitions.

His brace ended the game as a contest inside the first quarter of an hour but although the scoreline didn't improve, wave after wave of United attacks continued throughout, leaving manager Sir Alex Ferguson, speaking after the game, in complete shock.

Ronaldo is now just 5 goals behind George Best's highest ever number of goals for a winger in a season at United.
