Rooney's Dig At Lampard's Deflecteds

Wayne Rooney was spurred on against Reading by losing a Premier League goal to William Gallas...

Rooney put in another great performance today and scored a vital winner at Reading as United kept up the pace at the top. The striker revealed that the decision to have his Emirates goal taken off him really made him angry.

"I don`t know who gives and doesn`t give these goals," he said.

"Over the last three years, Frank Lampard has had about 50 deflected goals and never had one took off him.

Genius, it could have been copypasted straight from a Manchester United fan messageboard! You remember the goal? Ronaldo's low cross turned in by Rooney, via a deflection on William Gallas' arm. Our striker definitely feels he should have been credited with it - and probably Gallas wouldn't mind either.

"I`ve had one deflected goal and had it took off me, so maybe they need to look at the game a bit closer."

So, start a campaign of Give Rooney His Goal Back? Only kidding, poorly. But I love this Lampard quote, it's just fabulous. Looking forward to the next England training, let's see if they'll have a word or two about it.

If you bothered to do your research you would know that only 4% of Lampards goals have been deflections. So thats 96% of his goals that have been clean. So go figure

It's pretty sad that a forward who's supposed to be scoring 20 goals a season has to show sour grapes about a midfielder's superior figures. Maybe the overrated scouser should spend a bit more time trying to living up to the hype that surrounds him.

I love it. The majority of fat frank's goal are deflected. Chelsea fans are so one dimensional they think he can do know wrong. It makes me chuckle when people say he's better than gerrard.

Rooney is young, give him time and he will score more goals if he stops trying to win games on his own by chasing back for the ball on the edge of his own penalty area etc. As for Lampard, he does score more deflected goals than any one i can ever remember, but i spose the chav fans are right, they count on the score board, no matter how crappy they are playing, and lets face it, right now Chelski need all the deflected goals they can get with the very average players they have upfront and anelka still settling in.

ha ha rooney gets enough goals so i have no idea how any of you are insulting his goal tally. the arsenal how are ou even talking about overated striker when you odnt have a better one. pompey carpet if you wanna talk about goal scoring how about you compare bejani with ronaldo. rooney actaully has 13 goals in all competitions this season which is bad as hes had two badish injuries and and illness. and now time to talk about the most stupid comment said on here from blue boys. lampard better then rooney ha ha you honestly must really wanna suck lampard d*** if you think lampard is even in rooneys level.

Those (sheep) who confidently (copy what they read from other sheep and) state that the 'majority of fat frank's goals are deflected' need to watch more football. They might discover that the above 'fact' is no more than some retard's generalisation, now copied by those who are incapable of assessing the evidence of their eyes. If they looked really hard, they might also notice that Shrek is considerably fatter than Frank. Still, no sense in letting the facts ruin a puerile witticism, eh?

they might have more goals but it dont mean that they are better. you talk about ronaldo not being a striker but how do you think that makes your strikers feel when a midfielder scores more goals.

I WILL END THIS ARGUMENT.....lampard is *****, eduardo is by far the most overated striker (pundits are already calling him best finisher in the league, fekin rediculous!!!) adebayor is class i admit that, but so is rooney - and added with the tevez partnership they are lethal.....and to all you haters RONALDO IS BY FAR THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD, ***** KAKA, ***** MESSI.......CRISTIANO RULES!!!

Rooney is a vital part of the team, he's as important as the other two of the Holy Trinity. He's only the number three goalscorer in the team, yet scored 10 goals in 21 games, and that's quite good, by my standards at least.

And it's quite funny that people come here to say Rooney is overrated two days after he scored a magnificent and important goal :-) The Lampard thing is surely an exaggeration but come on, this deflected goals theme was not born out of nothing, it has a basis of fact: he scored lot of deflected goals, and there's nothing wrong with that.

has lescott now scorred more goals than rooney in the premiership? it must be pretty close... anyway, ok - ronaldo is a classy player, and the best in the world. you can not deny that. HOWEVER, this thread is about ROONEY, not RONALDO, and so, whilst bringing up benjani as a comparison was slightly out of place, brining in ronaldo to compare to benjani to compare to rooney is just a little over the top, isnt it? and all it shows is thar ronaldo is so much better than the rest of your team. i look forward to playing you soon!!!
