Rooney's Dig At Lampard's Deflecteds

Rooney's Dig At Lampard's Deflecteds

Wayne Rooney was spurred on against Reading by losing a Premier League goal to William Gallas...

Rooney put in another great performance today and scored a vital winner at Reading as United kept up the pace at the top. The striker revealed that the decision to have his Emirates goal taken off him really made him angry.

"I don`t know who gives and doesn`t give these goals," he said.

"Over the last three years, Frank Lampard has had about 50 deflected goals and never had one took off him.

Genius, it could have been copypasted straight from a Manchester United fan messageboard! You remember the goal? Ronaldo's low cross turned in by Rooney, via a deflection on William Gallas' arm. Our striker definitely feels he should have been credited with it - and probably Gallas wouldn't mind either.

"I`ve had one deflected goal and had it took off me, so maybe they need to look at the game a bit closer."

So, start a campaign of Give Rooney His Goal Back? Only kidding, poorly. But I love this Lampard quote, it's just fabulous. Looking forward to the next England training, let's see if they'll have a word or two about it.

If you bothered to do your research you would know that only 4% of Lampards goals have been deflections. So thats 96% of his goals that have been clean. So go figure
