'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fergie thrilled by win (AUDIO)

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said after the match his faith never waivered despite two goal line clearances from Steven Taylor and a penalty appeal turned down in the first half at Old Trafford, much to the Scotsman's evident displeasure.

But the goals flew into the Newcastle net infront of the Stretford End with a first hat-trick for Cristiano Ronaldo, taking his tally to 16 in the Premier League, whilst a brace from Carlos Tevez and a volley from Rio Ferdinand compounded more misery for a beleaguered Newcastle one game after Sam Allardyce was sacked.

The United boss said he always knew the team would win but the clinical edge shown in the second half was a little surprising.
