'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fergie Hails Our Hat-Trick Hero

Cristiano Ronaldo is amazing. That is hardly surprising but Sir Alex Ferguson felt necessary to stress this point after the dazzling winger's first eve hat-trick for United coincided with a 6-0 demolition of Newcastle.

"It`s fantastic, incredible in fact," quotes him.

"We wondered at the start of last season whether he could match last season`s tally of 23. You had to say 'why not?`

"I expected him to score more this season because he works so hard. That`s why there were no bets this season, all bets are off with Ronaldo."

"It was always coming',
he said, referring to Ronaldo's first hat-trick. 'He`s been close on a number of occasions but today he capped a really fine display with the hat-trick. We`re all delighted for him."

And he was delighted for the team's effort and added that once again our rock-solid defense was the basis of success.

You may forgive me for saying that yesterday I was much more impressed with the attacking department, somehow.
