'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mr. Gill, We Can't Lose Evra

Patrice Evra claims negotiations have not yet started between him and the club despite the speculation that he will soon be offered a new deal.

It's been reported that the left-back is on the verge of signing a new deal but it he's actually very far from it.

'I have one year left after this one,' he said. People keep talking to me about it. They think I have extended my contract. But that is not true. We have not even started to discuss it.

'It is said that the club want to prolong but there is nothing for the moment. What do I want? You will not get me talking about that.'

I don't know why the talks haven't even started but, especially in light of the Wes Brown situation, the club most open them as soon as possible. Why? Let Evra explain that.

'I think I have found the right balance, the one I have always sought between my attacking and defending.'

'These days I have kept my attacking desire, but I have learnt to love the combat.

'Sir Alex Ferguson had this nice word about me one day, saying 'he's a football player'. Just that.'

We can't lose Evra. Just can't. That is obvious. I hope so.

Evra's playing the best football of his career here so neither him nor the club would gain anything from parting company. It would be a huge loss for both parties concerned so that extension will be signed soon, I'm certain of that.

Evra is a quality player, and he's an important player for Manutd, so the club won't let him go.
