'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roma v United - Player Ratings!

Tomasz Kuszczak: Confident, a lot of good saves and reliable all night. 7

Danny Simpson: Had the unenviable task of trying to keep Mancini quiet but he was equal to it and even had the strength to go forward. 7

Jonny Evans: Did a fantastic job in the middle. He seemed tired at the last 20 minutes or so but kept going and he was focused throughout. 7

Gerard Pique: Outstanding. Marvellous at the back, clinical in front of goal, he was one of the leading lights yesterday. 8

John O'Shea: Did well but then picked up an injury. Should have offered more going forward but still had a good game. 7

Chris Eagles: He was often going nowhere and had trouble with getting through Antunes. However, he never gave up and his passing was sharp. 6

Darren Fletcher: Did his job without any fuss. 6

Michael Carrick: Maybe he could have contributed more to the attacks but good passing and a lot of important tackles indicate he's in good form. 7

Nani: Displayed a lot of technique and pace but little intelligence. Tried and always wanted the ball. He will get better and better. 7

Wayne Rooney: Bit subdued in the first half but stepped forward in the second, holding up the ball well, providing plenty of support for Saha. As a captain, he was exemplary. 7

Louis Saha: A lot of papers criticised him but that's now more a habit than anything else. Still far from his best and missed his only real chance but used his technical aptitude effectively. 6

Wes Brown: Replacing O'Shea, he was beaten at the equaliser but stood firm during the final minutes. 6

Dong Fangzhuo: Came on for Rooney and I still feel he's a merchandising product rather than a footballer. 5

A match report but no report on the well-being of the fans that were attacked in Rome? I hope that they all make full, speedy recoveries, and that (for once) the Italian police actually do something about the vicious behaviour of a small minority of Italian fans.

Rooney could play better than that last night, and we could win that game if we had a good luck, i think we deserved a win.
Star 3000
when italian clubs can't control their own supporters, police can do nothing, either. it's a shame for some perfect italian clubs like Milan and Roma to have these supporters.
Star 3000
Yeahh i agree with harry p i think roma fans are horrible and unfair and there should be smething done about it
Jakk-United-2007
They were criticised last season by William Gaiilard who is personal advisor of Platini. I don't really understand how can they still get away with not making the necessary changes in security. More able policemen, safer stadia, better organisation: that's what Italy need.
midlothian99
i agree with jakk the roma fans are a bunch of horrible kits and something needs to be done !
