Ivanovic: Better Than Evra?

Ivanovic: Better Than Evra?

United are reportedly set to buy Branislav Ivanovic from Lokomotiv Moscow - for £10 million.

The Serbian left-back is thought to be a target for Sir Alex who conceded that we lack cover at that position. Someone who could challenge Evra would be most welcome though you couldn't find anyone who could do the job better than the Frenchman at the moment.

And that's exactly my point. I mean, I know I should not take newspaper tosh seriously but it's hard not to wonder how they knock up these reported prices. £10 million, for heaven's sake. That is £3 million more than what we had paid for Patrice Evra, an established French international player. And it would be paid, according to the papers, for a 23-year-old Serbian of Lokomotiv Moscow...

Get a grip, do you honestly think that Fergie would buy such an expensive left-back for COVER? Or that he's better than Evra? Fat chance, I tell you. I do not say he won't join us in January: if he's good, he's welcome. But not for more than £5 million.

but he's a full-back, whatever you heard. why would chelsea need another left-back? oh, i know, only to deny their rivals to buy decent players... course i can't complain, you did us a favour by taking mikel and ballack and robben...

What, merlin, you feel you have a god-given right to sign players we want? I think you can have him, ruin the career of another exciting prospect...
