Tevez Too Tired

Carlos Tevez said he was exhausted after Argentina's two World Cup qualifiers.

We might have to cope with the absence of Tevez tomorrow if the staff decide he hasn't recovered sufficiently after travelling round the world. And imagine how tired would he have been had he not got himself sent off on Wednesday.

The gauchos lost against Colombia with ten men as Tevez spent only 24 minutes on the pitch. The striker will not be back in England earlier than Friday morning which means that all the effects of jet-lag and travelling are unlikely to wear off until Saturday afternoon.

With a game against Sporting coming up just three days later, this situation once again warns us: we need a striker. As you surely know now, Rooney hasn't resumed training, despite widespread reports to the contrary. And if he's out, we are dangerously thin up front.

Fortunately, it will be a long time before Tevez is due to play another qualifier for Argentina so we might get away with it for now. But buying a striker in January is imperative.
