Rumour Mill: Anelka, Jovetic, Berba

Bolton, not for the first and certainly not the last time, display an embarassing misconception of size and importance it seems. Rumour has it that they are holding out for £15m for Nicolas Anelka who is a target for striker-shy Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

It's unusual to find City in such an elevated company either on the table or among the transfer rumours. But under the expert guidance of Sven-Goran Eriksson (and how many times were we able to string these words together in the last few years?) they must get used to the spotlight it seems. Nikola Jovetic, long-term target of United, is believed to be targeted by City, too so the 17-year-old must be wary before wrecking his career with either the Massive Club or with Real Madrid.

Dimitar Berbatov, meanwhile, does not need to make hasty decisions (neither Jovetic but I had to find a connection between two pieces of terrible rumours). He's described himself as a modest, down-to-earth man who does not like attention - but did not add that he doesn't like being subbed or not included in the starting line-up, either. But this latter attribute is what deterred many United fans from demanding the Glazers the splash the cash for him and now it seems we'll have to cope without Berbatov: he praised Juande Ramos beyond all praises and is therefore unlikely to leave now.

Macauley Chrisantus, meanwhile, joined Hamburg. Who the bloody hell is he, you may ask. Well, a 17-year-old wonderkid from Nigeria who rejected Chelsea and United too move to Germany. Bless him.

And finally, as I am a great believer of cycles, we are back to Bolton. It surfaces with astonishing regularity that United are set to pounce for the impressive Jussi Jaaskalainen who is bound to give one hell of a performance on the 27th after writing down this piece of rubbi... I mean rumour.
