Best Ever Reds

Best Ever Reds

Sir Alex Ferguson believes the current squad is the strongest he's ever managed.

Of course the lovable enthusiasts of Aberdeen cannot be compared to our current crop of world class players so any comparison can be done only with former United teams.

Sir Alex does not do this and I will do that only at the end of the season. Until then it's pointless but it will be worth examining if Fergie got it right: is it really our greatest ever squad?

'I believe this is the strongest squad I've ever had, so much so I think I would be pushed to name my overall best team,' he told the Daily Mirror.

'We have young players led by Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo and now joined by the likes of Carlos Tevez, Nani and Anderson.

'This is a good young team coming together and they have great courage in the way they want to play. They want to win something and the signs are good. We have a great chance of doing that this season.'

And hopefully that something won't be only the FA Cup.

Well it is very strong. More talented than the treble winning team. But as the treble winning team consisted alot of players that come through the academy I would say the 1999 team was better.

The SQUAD is obviously stronger than the Treble side's but remains to be seen if it's as good a TEAM as that one. We have more depth than eight years before and more technical ability than ever.
