Vidic A Red Until 2012

Vidic A Red Until 2012

Nemanja Vidic, possibly Fergie's greatest signing since Wayne Rooney, has extended his United contract.

The Serbian, after an indifferent start in 2006, became a rock in United's defence and played an integral part in our title-winning campaign last season. His absence against Milan in the Champions League semi-final greatly rocked the team as the two goals shipped in indicates and though he returned from the second leg, we were very vulnerable once again with Vida clearly not match fit.

However, this season he's back to his solid, uncompromising best and I don't think there's a single United fan who does not love Vidic now. His contract extension is undoubtedly great news coming on the back of Champions League qualification with a 4-0 win.

'Playing in this team is a great privilege,' he said.

'This is such a great club, I am delighted to be able to extend my stay here. The fans and everyone at the club have been very special to me.'

'I hope I can do my bit to bring the club even more trophies in the years ahead.'

He's 26 so we can say that as a central defender his best years are still ahead of him. Long may he excel in our red shirt!
