'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Welcome Back, Gary!

Gary Neville finally returned to the pitch in the 6-1 demolition of Stockport County in the Senior Cup.

The United skipper, out with injury since March 17, played 16 minutes and though he had obvious problems with the pace of even this level, it was encouraging.

He played in the centre which is unusual for him though he can be deployed there - but of course after more than seven months absence any position is unusual.

He did not need to put in a great show as the Reserves beat a poor Stockport 6-1 but he was culpable for the only goal we conceded and picked up a booking.

His lack of match fitness makes it certain that he won't be included for the trip to the Emirates tomorrow but he might make the bench for the significantly less important home game against Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday.

Welcome back, captain, it's good to see you on board again.
