Rooney Reveals His Religious Side

Rooney Reveals His Religious Side

England's qualification hopes hang by a thread: they need Israel to take points off Russia. And Rooney is praying for that.

Rooney is not someone who's regularly associated with the transcendent forces - if not on the basis of his skills which seem supernatural sometimes. But I do not wish to hype Rooney now: it's about England's Euro 2008 chances.

Wayne had a mixed game in Moscow but for the team it was a downright nightmare and now chaces of qualification seem to evaporate. But the Three Lions may place their hope upon the nation of Tal Ben Haim and Yossi Benayoun. United fans will find it unusual to cheer on said players but Rooney will do it for certain.

'With the players and support we've got it would be a nightmare if we didn't qualify,' he told Sky Sports News.

'Hopefully Israel can help us by taking a point or beating Russia. We have to wait and see and pray that Israel get a result.'

Seeing how well the last Euro tournament worked out for him (apart from the fracture at the end), it is quite understandable that Rooney is desperate to be there...
