United: Major Midfield Crisis!

Michael Carrick is out for up to six weeks after fracturing his elbow against AS Roma.

Just what we were praying for not to happen did happen indeed. After Owen Hargreaves and Darren Fletcher had been ruled out, it became vital that we keep Scholes and Carrick fit. Well, now we do not have a recognised defensive midfielder...

'Michael has sustained a fractured right elbow and will be out for up to six weeks,' a club spokesperson told the official website.

Time has come for the fantastic Scholes-O'Shea pairing but the Irishman is needed at right-back at the moment though I hope Brown's injury is nothing serious and he'll be back for the Wigan game. If not, we are in trouble in midfield.

There is still Anderson of course but a Scholes-Anderson pair would leave us seriously vulnerable in defence and put even more pressure on Vidic and Ferdinand.

Another option, Darren Fletcher suffered his injury during the France v Scotland game and at the time doctors said he would miss six weeks. The trouble is, that game was only three weeks ago so we are still far from that date... I think he might be rushed back which I normally hate but we have little to do now.

Hargreaves will be hopefully back in less than a months' time and I hope beyond hope that we will have both him and Fletcher available for the trip to Emirates on November 3.

And of course I wish a speedy recovery to Michael Carrick.

giggsy can do a job in the middle, hes not that great on the left anymore and a scholes-giggs combo is oozing experience

you think you've got problems! we go to Bolton without Lampard, Ballack, Essien and Mikel - god enough for any team when they're fit!
merlin
yeah chelseas problems do make ours look a little better

lets face it bolton have been no way near there best this season but still a hard game for any team
muffdaddy1983
Yep merlin but you have 386 central midfielders - I believe you'll still be able to field a Makelele-Sidwell pairing which is not bad at all. We do not have a recognised tackler now, only John O'Shea if you can call him that.
