United v Roma - Ratings!

United defeated AS Roma 1-0 without setting the world alight. The players get their ratings now.

Tomasz Kuszczak: Confident throughout. Dealt well with deflected shots, straight, powerfull efforts and came off his line very well when it was necessary. 8

John O'Shea: Apart from the first quarter of an hour he kept Mancini quiet for which he deserves praise. Seemed uncertain at times though. 6

Rio Ferdinand: Now that's what I call defending. I think he was majestic, oozing confidence and class. Without his display we could have been in serious trouble. Roma had chances but only when even Rio could not do anything due to the errors of his team-mates. 9

Nemanja Vidic: Almost gifted Totti a goal when slipping but otherwise solid, confident performance. 7

Patrice Evra: Composed and calm throughout, he linked well with Nani but too often he chose the backpass instead of crossing the ball into the box. 7

Cristiano Ronaldo: What he did was good but it was few. Unusually quiet, should have stepped forward more often. Roma of course did everything to stop him, not bothering with the rules. 6

Michael Carrick: As I have written, I'm not satisfied with his defensive efforts. His pass to Nani before the goal deserves credit but his slick passing is nowhere to be seen. 6

Paul Scholes: Started the season brilliantly but as it went on, his creativity seemed to diminish. Defensively useless... good passing though. 6

Luis Nani: Our best attacking player I think. His dribbles worked but one terrible backpass almost gifted Roma a goal. A very fine assist to Rooney. 7

Wayne Rooney: The hero, one might say yet I would have brought him off before his goal. That shot was fine and hopefully it will kickstart his season, he badly needed this goal for his confidence. 7

Louis Saha: Well, not bad but not spectacular either. Expected more of him, to be honest but hopefully he'll deliver when given the opportunity again. 6

Carlos Tevez: A good contribution after replacing Saha: dangerous shot and stuck to the right wing when Ronaldo had to be taken off at the end. 6

Ryan Giggs: Came on for Nani and kept the ball and his cool well in the closing stages. 6

Anderson: Replaced Rooney and a good solo proved he's got that pace we want to see from him. Could have scored if Giggs had put him through a moment earlier. 6

Anderson and Giggs did not do enough to deserve a 6, it should have been a 5.

higher, lower, lets have a look at the old scoreboard! Apologies for getting Carrick crocked, that's what happens to players I pick for my Fantasy League team!
