Panucci: United Abused Superiority!

Roma defender Christian Panucci believes United created an unjust atmosphere against Roma.

Crowd violence marred the two teams' meetings last season but inside Old Trafford the only trouble was for Roma who had been humiliated 7-1.

However, Panucci blames United players for... not exactly sure what.

'The first match generated so much controversy and United then profited from these circumstances by doing all they could to create a totally unjust atmosphere against us.

'United deserved to win, but some of their players abused this superiority. We see this as an opportunity to exact revenge. I have never suffered on the field like I did that day last season.'

How exactly the team, the players profited from it? I don't know and he would not elaborate. I think the Italian police was under attack from England after the scenes in Rome and the clashes in Manchester were sad but not unexpected consequences of what happened in Rome.

Some of our players abused this superiority... What superiority? On the field? Well, if you recall Ronaldo tormenting him I understand why he felt being abused but surely scoring seven goals is still not a crime? Or the abuse refers to us profiting from the circumstances? It's all so murky.

One thing is clear. I have no problem to believe they want revenge because none of their players had suffered on the pitch ever before like they did on that day.

Panucci played for us (Chelsea) and he almost had a fight with Hasselbaink - I know who my money would have been on!

Hasselbaink's stare and the angle of his legs could kill anyone! I don't understand his comments either, maybe we really abused our superior football quality - does that mean we should of stopped at three?
