'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Vidic Gets What He Deserves

Nemanja Vidic will be offered a new, four-year contract to take his earning to 50k a week.

Not many United fans would say he does not deserve this as his no-nonsense style and bravery played a major part in making our defence the meanest ever since Fergie took over the team.

The Serbian whose current deal expires in 18 months time is similar to Steve Bruce in another sense: he's got an eye for goal and set himself a target.

"I plan to score lots of goals this year. If they come off my head, my feet or stomach, I don`t mind. I want to help the team win more matches," he said in The Sun.

"I understand there is a lot of concentration on our attacking players. But you have to defend to win football matches too.

"Myself and Rio have a great understanding and I think it is getting better. We aim to get as many clean sheets as we can."
