Park Targets New Year Comeback

Park Targets New Year Comeback

Ji-sung Park hopes to be fit for the start of 2008, as his recovery from a knee operation is going well.

The Korean midfielder damaged his knee in the 4-1 win over Blackburn on March 31. The injury had then been though to be minor but it turned out that he needed surgery. He went under the knife in California this summer but is progressing well now.

'Hopefully I'll be playing again early in the New Year,' he told the official website. 'My knee is getting better and it's a case of so far, so good.'

And he's upbeat about the team's chances, too, despite our somewhat slow start to the season.

'I'm confident that we can retain the Premier League title this season,' he said. 'We've got a good squad and the manager has brought some good players into the team to improve it even further.'

'The new signings have all impressed me in different ways. Nani is very quick, Owen works hard and Carlos has great vision. Anderson hasn't played much, but I am looking forward to seeing more of him.'
