Kanchelskis: Giggs Is Good Enough

Andrei Kanchelskis believes Ryan Giggs can keep on playing at the top level for years to come.

The Russian, whose departure from United was controversial to say the least, might not be remembered too fondly by a lot of our fans (Vital member Kanchelskis excluded of course) but his recent comments about Giggs are welcome.

'I don't find it incredible at all that Ryan is still performing at the top level,' said Kanchelskis.

'Ryan has always been a great professional who has looked after himself properly. If you are professional in your life and concentrate your efforts in training and matches then you can go on and on.

'I only finished last season at 38. I didn't want to drop down the divisions in Russia so I retired at the top level. I think Ryan will do the same. But it won't be yet. If I can play to 38, why can't he? Maybe he will play for another four or five years yet. At the moment I don't see any reason why not.'

Would you like to see Giggs playing for five more years? It'd be interesting though I think it's impossible. It's all very good to play in Russia until you're 38 but playing for United is a tad different.

But of course now Giggs is of great value, according to Kanchelskis, too.

'I see a lot of Premiership football and watch United a lot. Ryan is still fast and clever. He is still definitely good enough for that level.'

giggs is past it he should retire gracefully before he embarrasses himself, there is no doubt he is one of the best players in english football history but the way he has played so far this season and towards the end of last season have been disgraceful
