Spalletti Happy To Face United Again

Spalletti Happy To Face United Again

AS Roma will be looking for revenge when they meet United again, this time in the group stage of the Champions League.

The Reds will play Roma on October 2, at Old Trafford but Luciano Spalletti, coach of the giallorossi, is not downhearted at all to return to the scene of the biggest humiliation of his coaching career.

'There were any number of teams I would have chosen to be grouped with, but facing Manchester United again will give us added motivation,' he said.

'It's a difficult group, but in this competition there is quality everywhere and we have seen so far this season that Roma also has great quality. We can look forward to this competition with our heads high.'

Well, we've always known Roma is a decent team, trying to play good football and let's face it: it won't be another 7-1. However, we must beat them at Old Trafford in the second fixture of the group stage. Our first game is an away one at Sporting, breeding ground of Ronaldo and Nani, and I think with the help of our young Portuguese lads we can take the three points.

Beating Sporting and Roma would represent a flying start and would almost alleviate any doubts over our capabilities. What we must avoid at all costs is that our qualification to hinge on the final fixture. That is Roma, away. We must settle things before that.
