Andy Cole Won't Return

Andy Cole Won't Return

One veteran legend has retired and the other has been ruled out of Saturday's game.

Former United great Andy Cole has been signed by former United great Roy Keane for Sunderland - but the Fergie-era's best goalscorer before Ruud van Nistelrooy will not take part in Saturday's game against the Champions at Old Trafford.

'I would have thought it would be too soon for Andy,' the official site quotes Keano. 'We're not going to be taking any silly chances. Andy will train and then there's an international break coming up after that.

'That will give any new players a chance to get up to speed. We can't expect miracles and Andy has a slight groin strain anyway.'

Bad luck. Andy is always welcome here, as it showed when he played for United against the Europe XI in March. Kieran Richardson, not the most popular player at Old Trafford, will also miss the trip but Paul McShane, who spent four years at the club, is expected to be available.

Shame, it would have been nice to see him at Old Trafford. Oh well, life goes on :-)
