'Reject' Wants To Stop Fergie

'Reject' Wants To Stop Fergie

Sir Alex Ferguson wants to win the League Cup for only the second time in his glittering Old Trafford career, but he knows a 'reject' is out to stop him.

Goalkeeper Mike Pollitt was quite outstanding against Arsenal, and he is the man who would love to get one over on the United boss.

Pollitt was once on United's books, signing his first professional contract in 1990 under Ferguson, only to be let go a year later by the Scot without an appearance to his name.

Ferguson: 'I watched the other semi final with some friends and I had told them I had let Pollitt go. After he made several saves, one of them looked at me and said 'are you sure you did the right thing?'

'But it's going to be an intriguing final against Wigan. They were fantastic against Arsenal, absolutely magnificent.

'They proved with the way they played that it will be a tough final. They came through in the face of a lot of adversity, and I was very proud of them.'
