Fergie: Tevez Scored The Goal

Sir Alex Ferguson believes Nani's powerful shot could have been a goal anyway but the deflection on Tevez's head made it absolutely certain.

Therefore, he says the goal should be awarded to Tevez.

"Carlos Tevez`s touch on the ball decided," he told Sky Sports.

"It may have gone in anyway because it was such a ferocious hit. But, personally, I think it`s Tevez`s goal, being a centre-forward."

There are two things wrong with it. First, a shot of such power and accuracy deserves a goal and Nani should not be deprived of the glory of hitting a vital winner in only his fourth competitive outing for United.

Secondly, Tevez actually pulled his head down, trying to get out of the shot's way - his touch was unintended. For me, it's Nani's goal and surely the vast majority of people will say the same.

And the spicy matter: the penalty appeal. I think it was Brown's chest and though it's true he dived like a keeper, his arm was very much close to his body and it did not reach for the ball. Martin Jol is wrong in saying he did everything as a keeper - no, he acted as a defender desperate to clear. It is possible that the ball hit his arm but it was unintended and meant to clear with his chest.

In this case I agree with Fergie: it hit Brown's chest.

"At the time they protested so much that I thought it must have been a penalty," he said.

"But I`ve it, it`s clear, and Wes said himself that it hit him on the chest. As it hits him, his arm comes out so maybe that`s why they thought it hit his arm. But I`m sure of it, it hit his chest."

If Jol says we were lucky, he's right. If he says they played well, he's right. If he says they would have deserved a point, he's right. But it was not a penalty.

It's Nani's, absolutely and he deserved the goal.

It should be Nani's but after Ferguson's statment it will be Tevez's. It did hit Brown on the arm though, it should've been a penalty.

After all it is Old Trafford and no away team gets penalties there. Tevez a striker....I think not...more like a pig in a poke...

Of course I meant that not one was given against Chelsea at the Bridge.

Three penalties were awarded against us at Old Trafford last season. Against Chelsea... Not one was given! After all no away team gets penalties at Stamford Bridge.
