Silvestre Seeks Exit

Silvestre Seeks Exit

Mikael Silvestre is reportedly seeking an exit from Old Trafford after being dropped for the upcoming Community Shield match against Chelsea.

Numerous sources are today suggesting that the French international is seeking his exit, after realising he will still be second string to Patrice Evra this season, or even thrird choice if heinze decides to stay.

Speaking to the News of the World, the 30 year old spoke of his anger at being left out of the FA Cup final in May, claiming how it was a huge suprise to him.

'Alex Ferguson knocked on my door at 11am on the morning of the game to tell me I wasn't playing.'

He went on to say how it made him feel, accusing Ferguson of 'dressing up' the situation.

'Can you imagine how that felt? He did his best to dress it up saying I hadn't played a lot in the run-up to the game, I was still coming back from injury and he wanted to keep me fresh.'

He concluded by saying how much of a shock it was to him, labelling the snub as a 'huge blow' to him.

'I didn't want to here it. I didn't expect to be dropped and it was a huge blow.'

To be honest, this latest news neither worrys or suprises me, ive been expecting for a while now that Silvestre was unhappy with the current situation, but can he really blame Fergie?

Now, ive never been Silvestres biggest fan, I simply dont think he is good enough for United, but i always accepted him as a United player because i thought he was happy in the knowledge that he was, and never will be first choice. However this latest news makes me question what Silvestre's role at the club will be from now on. If he does leave, Fergie will surely need to strenghten at left-back with Heinze also seemingly out the exit door.

to be honest tonytime, this is exactly the sort of game silvestre is probably looking to play in. i mean, if he cant even get into the squad for what is still just a pre-season freindly, how the hell is he going to challenge for places in the league and champions league?!?!

Agree with Tony on this, surely he should not be so upset. He's never voiced problems with being a squad player, not even when he had been left out of important games so it's quite possible that the tabloids are stirring up things as usual.

united4life, with Heinze looking to move Silvestre should realise that he'll be our second-choice left-back. I understand that he had been disappointed about missing the Cup final but still can't believe that missing the Shield would be such a big deal for him. And he can expect to get games, Evra won't play 60 matches a season, that's sure.

folks, slightly un-related - well actually totally unrelated! Will Wes Brown be a regular in the Utd defence this season? I've bought him for my fantasy league (£5m) and wondered if I'd invested wisely!!!

Vidic is a better option! Leave our lot alone though, they're all injury prone :-)
