Hargreaves Eyes More Games

Owen Hargreaves made his debut in the 3-1 win over Peterborough today and is eager to be ready for the Premiership opener against Reading.

The 26-year-old midfielder who is expected to add steel to United's midfield came on as a substitute at Peterborough and did well.

Sir Alex won the battle of Fergusons as his youthful charges controlled the game and despite conceding an equaliser they were always going to win the game. Dong finally showed some promise with a stunning winner but of course the quality of the opposition has been nowhere near to Premiership level so I won't hail him yet.

Hargreaves, as I have said, did well after finally overcoming his injury. He'll be only a spectator tomorrow during the Community Shield game but will probably play on Wednesday in one of our friendlies.

'I am looking forward to playing 60 minutes in Scotland on Wednesday,' he told MUTV.

'I hope to be ready for the first game of the season against Reading.'

Sir Alex has also expressed his delight at the sight of Hargreaves being in action again.

'It was good to see Owen back.

'He would have played the first half if we had not been delayed, but I put him on in the second half so he could warm up first.'

So, all is well, isn't it, folks? Pre-season
's gone fairly well, shame that we lost against the only quality opposition. We have a chance to put it right tomorrow, though...
