All Left-Backs To Leave United?

It seems that though right now United have three good left-backs, we'll soon have only one.

The legal wrangling over Heinze goes on - the player has now instructed lawyers to find a way of securing a move to Anfield. Why he is so keen on moving to a club that have two left-backs already is beyond me but that's not the point.

Heinze is leaving, that's sure and widespread reports claim that Lyon are on the verge of landing Mikael Silvestre. Of course I know that unless there are any official confirmations, I should treat any news on the matter with scepticism.

However, I can't help wondering who will play on the left if both leave, as it looks likely? John O'Shea started his United career as a left-back but his preferred foot is right - impressive full-back though he is I prefer him on that side.

Young Jonny Evans can play in the centre of the defence and on the right and the same goes to Pique and Brown, too. Bardsley is right-footed, too. The fact is, if Heinze and Silvestre leave, we'll be woefully short in a position where right now we have an embarassment of riches - even if this phrase seem slightly out of place when we're talking about Silvestre.

I'm no fan of the Frenchman: I think he's a good defender but his lapses of concentration are dangerous. However he's good as a squad player who could be useful. I'd say sell him and keep Heinze but after all this legal bitching I'd like to see the back of Gaby as soon as possible. Therefore, I think we should keep Silvestre, whatever his limitations are.

you must keep either heinze or sylvestre, heinze is by far the better player, but he looks like he will go (but not to liverpool) fergie has binned players for far less crimes, unless fergie has someone else in mind, especially since selling richardson you would be crazy to leave yourselves short.

anderson can play left-back aswell remember
united4life
Please don't waste Anderson at left-back, that would be a treasonable offence. Yes, I know he said he loves to play there but still... it's indecent, somehow :-)

I think we should try and get Silvestre, especially at price being quoted. Do we know what kind of wages is he on?
Topspur1
Sylvestres wages? Hes on too much. Anderson at left back? No,no and no that would definitely be a treasonable offence. Could Fergie be tempted to play 3 at the back with Neville slotting in alongside Vidic and Ferdinand? Lets hope not.

Theres talk today of a move for Wigan left-back Leighton Baines?!?!?
