Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that he wishes to give 22 year old Chinese Forward Dong Fangzhou more chances to shine next season.
After finally getting the green-light to sign on permanently with Utd after an impressive loan spell at Belgian feeder club Royal Antwerp, Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that he expects Dong to make a big impact at Man Utd next season, with the 22-year old set to start Tomorrow in Utd`s final game of the Asia Tour against Guangzhou Pharmaceutical.
Speaking to the Daily Express, Ferguson talked about what he hopes the Chinese International can achieve next season.
"We expect bigger things from Dong next season. He has tremendous pace and power. He's a very athletic boy and has a marvellous physique.'
And despite competition from the likes of Rooney, Saha, Rossi, Ronaldo, Anderson, Giggs and Nani (Smith looks set for the exit door) Ferguson still expects Dong to fight for a first team place after an impressive spell with Royal Antwerp.
'He did exceptionally well and scored a lot of goals at Antwerp and his experience with the Chinese national team has been good for him. Next season we will see a better player. Hopefully he is an emerging player for us.'
It is always exciting news when you hear that young, promising players will be given the chance at the highest level, my only fear is that we don`t see the Dong we saw last season at Stamford Bridge where he looked nervous and worried on the ball, but I`m sure with Sir Alex`s record of nurturing young talent, we could be seeing a future star of Manchester United.
