Heinze Saved From Mistake

Gabriel Heinze won't commit the greatest mistake of his life: he won't join Liverpool.

The Argentinian left-back could have bought out himself from his contract but did not notice the club of this intention within 15 days from the end of the season, therefore now United decide if they wish to sell him.

While the player is apparently keen on a move, Sir Alex Ferguson announced that he won't be allowed to join our friends down the road.

'I can assure you, Liverpool will not be getting Gabriel Heinze. We can put that to bed right now and we have done so. We have had a couple offers for him and we have turned them down.'

As I had written, he should not risk becoming a traitor in the fans' eyes, for he got very much from them. And, apart from these emotional factors, I still do not understand why he wanted to join a team that's got two left-backs and a manager who is famous for his adoration for the rotation.

Fergie claimed that Heinze's agent had been working on a transfer in the past 18 (!) months which is frankly astonishing - did Gaby really want away in his second season when he was out injured? Difficult to imagine but shows how football agents work these days.

However, our old Scot does not wish to discuss these things via an agent and confirmed that he wishes to speak with Heinze as soon as the defender is back from his extended leave.

Dales_Dad - a player of heinze's quality deserves top be number one left back/centre back, unfortunately he isnt at utd. i desperately hope he stays but i FULLY understand why he would want to leave
united4life
i was never worried that Heinze would go to liverpool, he has too good a relationship with utd and the fans, if he goes he will be sorely missed

Haha scaredy cats!
Damo69
If he wants to go to Liverpool should Sir Alex let him?
Eusebio
I would've liked him playing for Liverpool, not for 6 mil though. I don't think he's worth that amount considering his age and his past injuries.
JohnDoe
If he's determined to move, there's nothing Ferguson can do about it.
bring back kenny
Why? United can decide whether they accept offers. If they accept offers from other clubs but not from Liverpool then there's nothing Benítez can do about it.
Zae
Depends how determined he is/was to join Liverpool doesnt it? If he REALLY wants to then he can dig his heels in, and even Ferguson isnt stupid enough to keep an unhappy player when he could get £6 million odd for him. If he isnt that determined to join Liverpool anyway then its no great loss. We've got Riise, we've got Aurelio, we've got the kid Insua and we're being linked with Chiellini. If he does stay its just a shame for him that he'd have been so close to winning the title two years in a row at different clubs!!!
Nozzy06
Nozzy06, where have you been? I haven't seen you post for a while. I thought you were banned.

Good.Too good a player to let go.But the Bin Dippers can have Fletcher if they want!!!
SweetLeftFoot
Haha banned. Its just some poxy little site beloved by Chelsea fans, I've certainly never been banned. But I HAD to comment on this little beauty. Seems a bit strange to me though, this whole business. Either you let the guy go where he wants or you keep him. Strengthening Real Madrid wouldnt seem a fantastic idea considering the Champions League is the one trophy Ferguson REALLY wants to win again before he retires, but logic never has been his strong point.
Nozzy06
If fergie doesn't want him, why should he care where heinze goes?
YagamiRED
