Fergie Confirms Carlitos Talks

United are set to sign Carlos Tevez, according to none other than Sir Alex Ferguson himself.

Many sources claimed during the weekend that a deal has been completed to sign Carlos Tevez from West Ham United. So far, no official confirmation has arrived from the club but now the Boss himself spoke.

'We are in negotiations, which has been well documented,' the official site, www.manutd.com qoutes him, speaking at the press conference to unveil Hargreaves and Nani.

'Maurice Watkins has been working on it for a month, maybe more, to make sure the deal is perfectly clear and there are no side issues.

'To be honest I thought it would have all been sorted by the weekend just gone. It must be the Premier League that is holding it up.

'From what David and Maurice said everything was ready to go. Unless something's being held back from us, I don't know of anything that's holding it up.

'The essential parts of the deal are all agreed, hopefully it will be finalised soon.'

OK guys, we'll close the poll - Tevez said he wanted to join us, Fergie said we are close to sign him so it's certain now that we buy a world-class striker who starred in Argentina's demolition of Peru in the quarter-final of the Copa America.

Any thoughts on the matter? Are you happy?

and if you win the title again, you won't have bought it will you. but if chelsea or liverpool win it then they will have bought it. funny that.

if you aren't happy, you bloody well should be! Dales has a point as well, we are always riding the backs of the chelski purchase of the league but your spending this summer should all but have guaranteed you the league again next season!
The Fear
Apparently, Fergie added that we were following the process that Liverpool went through when signed Mascherano. As for your point: if we win the league again, it will not bother me that bitter Liverpool fans will say we bought it. If Chelsea beat us to it, I won't say they bought it. Liverpool won't win the league - they never do. I found a stat somewhere that shows that we have acquired more points by every million pounds we spent than the Scousers - so, essentially, they wasted more money than us, without results :-)

I'd add that the money for our big-money signings of the past and present had been generated by our success on the field, and not by a billionaire investor who threw money at us. It's not a moral difference but an economic one: Chelsea's purchases caused the transfer market to lose its balance, unlike ours.

i agree 100 percent zae we havent had a sugar daddy to buy us little treats.

Was going to make the same point myself Zae. We may have money but atleast we earned every penny of it.
