'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hargreaves Completes His Move

After a year of speculation, pleading and annoying German resistence, Owen Hargreaves has finally completed his move to Manchester United.

The club agreed to a fee with Bayern Munich back at the end of May and Hargreaves passed a medical at United but then he left for a holiday.

The 26-year-old England international today finally signed a four-year deal at Old Trafford and then spoke about his delight to the official website of the club.

'It's been a long time coming,' Owen exclusively told ManUtd.com. 'It was probably the worst-kept secret in football, but it's great to be here.'

'I think it's great to finally reach a positive conclusion. Especially after all the time and energy that's been put in from everyone involved!'

Including the fans, who spent a long time debating a) do we need Hargreaves? b) when we will get Hargreaves? c) are Bayern the most annoying and stubborn bunch on Earth?

In the past year, only the possible transfer of Thierry Henry got more attention than Hargreaves' move so everyone involved should be happy that it's now officially over.

Welcome to United, Owen!

worbo
glad its finally finished, he will make an instant impact im sure
united4life
finally a year waiting and now we have him. should be first hoice for england before lampard and gerrard
rooneyisgod
He should be paired with Gerrard in the centre for England. You cant have a midfield that cant help out its defence and he certainly puts himself in the way of the opposition which can only be good for us. His work rate and commitment are phenomenal like a certain Irishman who will be returning to Old Trafford in September.
Kanchelskis
totally agree with the comment bove. hargreaves in the holding with Gerrard in the AM position for England without a doubt.
