Anderson Receives Work Permit

Anderson will be able to pull on the Manchester United shirt as he's received a work permit on appeal.

The Brazilian prospect, currently on international duty at the Copa America, agreed to a move to United at the end of May. However, the completion of the deal was subject to a work permit.

The Home Office, as expected, rejected United's first application but granted it on appeal as the club requested special dispensation for Anderson's exceptional talents.

'We are delighted to announce our application for Anderson's work permit has been successful,' a club spokesman told the official site, www.manutd.com.

'We look forward to finalising his transfer from FC Porto in the very near future.'

Nani did not require a work permit as he's Portuguese so another of our newly-signed youngster has already completed his medical, just like Owen Hargreaves who, being English, obviously had no such problems whatsoever.

With Anderson's services finally secured, attention will finally turn on the possible departures and the probable arrival of a striker.

Its a bit stupid this work permits for footballers isnt it, its not as if they are hiding aboard trucks or taking a rowing boat across the channel, if they have agreed a contract with a club they should simply be allowed play for that club no matter where they came from or how many caps they have. One of the transfers we made that I was so happy about was when we got Veron, for years i wanted him at Old Trafford he was quality for Parma, remember the old Parma of Crespo, Chiesa ect but look how that turned out. Fergie will help Anderson fulfill his potential. Is there another manager in the game that can mould players with potential into world class footballers like Fergie can.
