Rio's Verdict

Rio Ferdinand is eager to play with Anderson and Hargreaves, admits he's never seen Nani play and wants to win all competitions...

Having picked up his second Premiership winners medal, it seems that Rio now wants to hit new heights. He believes that with the signings of Anderson, Hargreaves and Nani United will be a major force next season.

'We played against Porto in pre-season and Anderson played for them,' Ferdinand told Sky Sports News.

'He was someone a few of the lads were talking about anyway.

'I've not seen the other fella play, the Portuguese kid. A lot of people say he is very similar to Cristiano Ronaldo.

The other fella. How lovely. Hopefully he'll memorize his name in the coming weeks otherwise there will be embarassing scenes in the dressing room...

'If he is similar to him and he comes half as good as him, we've got a fantastic player on our hands, so it's exciting.

'We all know about Owen. He's a fantastic footballer as well and is someone who will add another dimension to our midfield that's already great to play behind.'

So. everything is great and everyone is happy? Yes and will be even more happy if we win a bucketload of trophies.

'Next season we won't be talking about what happened last season, it's about what we want to win in the future.

'We want to win the league, the FA Cup, the Carling Cup and the Champions League.

'We know it's going to be difficult, but you've got to set your standards.'

That's certainly true and I of course know it's only media talk that helps to add the hype that surrounds football. But in terms of the fans' expectations, such declarations can be dangerous.

I mean, most of the fans will know that winning the quadruple is not a realistic target: I firmly believe that is close to impossible. However, there are a few who will think after these comments that we have a divine right to win every trophy... and these supporters won't be satisfied with a single Premiership trophy next season.

Were I presented with a contract that states we'll win the Prem but nothing else, I'd sign it immediately...

i hope is as good without all the step overs. It would be great for you to sign a player with half the ability let alone a player just like him he is very talented

How old are you sonny because you only seem to come on as soon as school kicks out because if that is true your opinions mean feck all because you haven't lived long enough to understand your own body let alone footy. Please go and experiment with the young lad next door and then in a few years when you would maybe have clocked up your 10th live game you might have a point that others will take seriously and not just the other kids on this little lonely site.
