'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Richardson Explains Himself!

Kieran Richardson denied that he had gone straight into the dressing room becuase he was sulking about his substitution against the Czech Republic in the first game in the Under-21 European Championships.

The Manchester United winger is a key member of the England Under-21 team in the absence of David Bentley, Theo Walcott and Gabriel Agbonlahor. However, he failed to set the stage alight during the fairly dull 0-0 draw against the Czech Republic and was substituted by Stuart Pearce.

Richardson headed straight down the players' tunnel after being hauled off and some claimed it was an act of petulance - but the player disagrees.

'I wouldn't disrespect the manager like that, I went straight in to get treatment and get that out of the way,' said Richardson.

'You want to play well all the time and sometimes when it doesn't happen you are upset. I'm struggling at the moment with my back but hopefully I've got a couple of days of rest and hopefully I'll be all right.

'You want to start on a high but some lads didn't perform, but you have to get through it and stick together as a team.'

And you have to be able to convert penalties, of course...

Richardson as rubbish as ever. waste of space

I agree - but it's a bit sad that England does not have at least 6 better wingers than Richardson even at U21-level. Having said that, I'll acknowledge he's better than I had ever thought him to be if he cuts it at a lesser club. At United he won't.

he was great at west brom i think he needs a full season on loan at a team then we should either keep him or sell him depending on how well he does.
