'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gill: We Don't Panic!

United's chief executive David Gill hinted that a striker might arrive in the summer though it's far from certain as they're not desperate to sign one.

Once again, David Gill has been asked whether United would sign a striker this summer and once again, he replied in a tipically non-committing way.

The chief executive admitted that the club might look for someone who could bolster our options up front but refused to promise anything.

'We have looked at it and we don't rule out another' Gill told Sky Sports News.

'The area which is a striker but we will see what happens.

'We are not desperate for it but if one came along that Alex and the team felt would improve the squad we are prepared to do that.'

As we have always suspected, players' traffic will involve some of the men who wore the Red shirt last season getting through the exit door.

'There will be some changes but it would be wrong to comment as to that but I think they will be discussions we will have internally,' Gill said

'We have a got a large squad now there should be some people leaving, not many at all.

'There should be some leaving and don't forget we have some great players coming back who have been on loan.

'We want competition for places, we are looking to improve the squad and to take it on from last year

'We are not resting on our laurels, we want to do even better next year on the pitch.

'Alex is always looking to improve the quality of the team we have out there.'

Most of you probably have their opinion about who should go therefore Vital United will soon present a little article about the possible departures at Manchester United.

hmmmm....... if he is saying united will buy one if someone comes along im sure fergie has someone lined up

True, it's hard to imagine Fergie and Gill waiting outside Old Trafford for a player to pop up out of nowhere :-)

Interesting on the United website that the interview where these quotes come from the headline and the article points to us signing some one. The mind boggles...
mattweeden
this is David Gills way of saying that we are going to sign someone. I think Darren Bent might be worth buying.

i agree with mattweede, i believe that fergie has his eyes on someone, but they do not want to add pressure on them to buy one, clever situation to be in really...

i belive it will be a 5-10 million player. perhaps bent, or even savila on a free. exciting times

Guys, don't forget that last season Gill had said on transfer deadline day (or the day before that) that we will sign a big-name player. Needless to say, we didn't sign anyone... The United website is not only about official announcements and it's journalists love to drop hints about possible signings just like the journalists of Sun or Guardian or Daily Mail love to do so.
