Smith To Sign Extension

Alan Smith wants to stay at Old Trafford and claims he's in negotiations to sign a contract extension.

It seems that despite my permanent worries, Sir Alex Ferguson's plans still very much involve Alan Smith. Smudger's form hasn't been the best since his comeback yet the club is ready to offer him a new contract, according to the player himself.

'I have a contract renegotiation coming up and, now I'm fit, I'm ready to fight for my future,' he told the Daily Star Sunday.

'I definitely want to stay at Old Trafford.

'My agent has spoken to the club and hopefully that should be done in the next few weeks.'

I'll be happy if it happens - good luck Smudger!

great news - like ive said before you need a player like smith in our team, and im sure he will become better next season, where e will be able ot train pre-season like normal instead of alone trying to overcome his injury. COME ON SMUDGE!!!!!
united4life
Yeah that's true but now the Saviola rumours are gathering space. Wonder if there's any substance in them? He's a player I'd like to see at United.
midlothian99
gathering pace, not space :-))
midlothian99
where did you hear that midolothian99?
united4life
tribalfootball, TEAMtalk, Clubcall, EatSleepSports - not the most credible sources but it's all over Manchester United NewsNow. He'll be a free agent this summer so we could take out a leaf of Chelsea's book and sign a quality player on a free transfer.
midlothian99
that would be cool, ever since his loan move ended with sevilla i dontthink he has been the same player, he hasnt really been given the chance
united4life
Frank Rijkaard does not rate him for some reason though he's much better suited to Barca's style than Gudjohnsen.
midlothian99
yeah ive read the saviola rumours aswell. i think that would be a good signing.

Good news for smith and good news for us. If all modern footballers showed the spirit that smith shows week in week out i would make football a better game to watch. Take note Mr Richardson!!
mattweeden
Richardson lacks the confidence now after such a poor season for him. His spirit has evaporated with the bad displays.
Zae
let's just face it he is rubbish, lazy ad he thinks he is next big thing
mattweeden
Rubbish, that's true. Lazy? I don't know. Sometimes his game seems to lack effort, I must say. He'd be decent in a smaller team I think. The biggest problem with him is that he lacks proper footballing intelligence. (if we're talking about Richardson)
