United Confirm Hargreaves Deal

Official announcements keep coming thick and fast: after the capture of Anderson and Nani, United have confirmed the signing of Owen Hargreaves.

The England midfielder's arrival is nowhere near Anderson's on the shock scale; indeed, it was quite predictable that he would join this summer.

The club confirmed that they had agreed an undisclosed fee with Bayern and the player had passed his medical. Hargreaves will join on July 1, on the official opening day of the transfer window. He's not signed his contract yet, he'll do that at the end of June after he returns from his holiday.

I wrote yesterday that Anderson is not suited to a role in a 4-4-2 system but I changed my opinion. Imagine this team:

Van der Sar/Foster - Gary, Rio, Vidic, Evra - Nani, Carrick, Hargreaves, Ronaldo - Rooney, Anderson

I know that neither of the supposed strikers is actually a finisher but this team would be so rich in skill and pace that such minor things hardly matter.

yes!!! life's good as a utd fan at the moment, and your predicted foramtion is good zae, however i still think theres a few more seasons left in scholes, and if that is to be the team for the future, we will need a RB, to replace g.neville, but all in all it has been a GREAT couple of days!!!

Yes, I think it's a team for the future - but then Edwin should not have been included. The Brazilian fullbacks who arrive next year could solve the "Neville-problem"

west ham will find it hard to beat derby

West Ham have tons of cash to sign players so another season of flirting with relegation is totally out of question. But they are very far away from the top four.
