Hargreaves Set To Join

Hargreaves Set To Join

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer announced that Owen Hargreaves would leave the club.

United have been chasing the 26-year-old midfielder since last summer but so far Bayern refused to sell him. However, after a hugely disappointing season the Bavarians start to build a new team and they welcome the kind of money they will receive from this deal.

Hargreaves, best performer of England's last World Cup campaign is reported to join for about £17 million.

'Owen is leaving,' Beckenbauer told Germany's DSF sports television network. 'That was the player's wish. It's a good match and it's also a good deal financially.'

The Kaiser did not disclose the financial details but said that the price was in the range of the reported amount.

do we look worried down here in SW6?

merlin u fekin better be, coz if we can win the premiership this season, how r u gonna stop us winning it next season when we have reinforced our team with players of Hargreaves quality, coz we all no how bad jose is in the transfer market (8.5 mil for boulahrouz, 30 mil for shevchenko, 21 million fo SWP to name but a few)

real talk from united4life hargreaves was the one of two things missing from us this season and with him added we need a striker and we should be good to go
20/05/2007 21:37:00
what number do you reckon he will be. i was just thinking and the only small number left is 10, which will probably be given to the new striker we get.hmmmm..........

We were missing some bite, aggression and energy in midfield this season so hopefully thats sorted now but still in the back of my head is the fact our prem rivals already have 2 midfielders ahead of him in the england squad but you never know this could be his chance cement a place in both utds and englands team he cant be faulted for commitment thats for sure, I still feel that we need to spend a few more quid on some really top notch players because lets be honest both chelsea, for all the talk of a quiet summer and liverpool, with their new yank owners will certainly spend big. Do you think that Fergie is contemplating a 4 5 1 formation next season with giggs and ronaldo pushed further up the wing, I certainly hope not but its hard to see who will be dropped my only reckoning is that Carrick will be pushed more and more into Scholes' role as the new season progresses. Also does anyone know of this Anderson chap from brazil who plays left wing for porto we've been linked too, is he any use?
21/05/2007 15:40:00
Anderson is a very talented player but very inconsistent, too. I think Giggs will find his options limited next season, with Rooney and Ronaldo providing width in a 4-3-3 formation.
21/05/2007 18:16:00
Cheers for that midlothian, do you think Fergie would risk signing an inconsistent player in the hope he comes good? Giggs is getting old alright but i hope Fergie doesnt play rooney on the wing its never really worked.
21/05/2007 20:22:00
united4life i think hargreaves will get number 17 and i agree midlothian giggs wont be used as much so it will probally take two more season to get the most appearances record.
