Fergie on FA Cup loss (AUDIO)

Fergie on FA Cup loss (AUDIO)

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said his players were off the pace as they lost the FA Cup final 1-0 to Chelsea at Wembley. Didier Drogba scored the only goal of the game in the second period of extra time.

It was a huge anti-climax considering the significance of the first FA Cup Final at Wembley in 7 years, and Fergie admits his players were nowhere near their best.

I am so, so happy a pond away! For us in the US, a league cup (FA or Carling) is like our playoffs and means much, much more than winning the Premiership which is like having the best regular season record here. I understand the importance of winning the Premiership and am proud we did it 2 years on the trot and will do it next year again, but I would rather have the 2 cups and finish 2d than win the Premiership and not have the cups. An American's view for what it's worth...

usa if you prefer that thens thats ok for you but i think for every man utd fan we would prefer the league over to cup competetions and merlin i dont think the better team won cause there was no better team it was a equal match but you got your goal so congratullations to you and chelsea

i agree with u rooneyisgod, and that is exactly what i posted on the vital chelsea site. they forget we are the premiership champions and when we won we won it with skill and craft. a one-off game where you score in the 117th minute does not prove u are the countrys best. and if u had offered any man utd fan at the beginning of the season a premiership title, fa cup final and a champons league semi-final we would have snapped your hand off. there is such a thing as being a good winner as a good loser all you chelsea fans, remember though u may have 2 cups, we have the one u all crave for the premiership and im sure that deep down ud rather be in our situation than in yours!!!

p.s - though we didnt play that well today roonay's second half performance was amazing, especially as he was the only one forward. his two bustling runs were amazing and u could see that he really wanted to win. never mind though, weve dot the PL, and hopefully we'll be back to wembley next year (and this time win!!!)
