Medal Hope For Smith And Larsson

United have asked the League for special dispension that would allow the two strikers to receive medals though neither played in ten league games.

The likes of Chris Eagles, Tomasz Kuszczak or Kieran Lee most definitely won't get a winners' medal but the case of Smith and Larsson is different.

The former was denied more appearances by injury and the subsequent recovery process whilst the latter's been giving us valuable service during a two-and-a-half month loan spell. The club would like to give them medals and I feel it's only right.

Larsson's arrival meant that we did not have to rely on Saha. His finishing is as good as ever and he linked very well with Rooney with whom they seemed to develop a good understanding fairly quickly.

Smith could be called upon whenever needed. He did not give world-class performances but he was influential against Roma and Watford and at least made life difficult and uncomfortable for defenders during every game.

My summary is, that they made a valuable and significant contribution (in one way or another) to our title success and deserve to receive a medal.

i hope they both get one. Larsson was so crucial to us and if he is to get one i hope that he wil be at old trafford on sunday to collect it and celebrate with the team.

Whilst I see where you are coming from is it REALLY fair for the FA to bend the rules with this? David Batty and Kevin Gallacher missed out on their Premiership winners medal due to failing to meet the quota despite both MORE than playing their parts in helping us win the League, granted both missed most, if not all (Gally in fact all but one game) that season but still palyed a part. You have to look back over the years on players that HAVE missed out on winners medals before, so is it really fair on these people?!?! Too late now (or is it?) but whatabout those effected previously?

true, i mean i think the 10 game thing is pretty steep, but would it be fair to award them medals when those in the past havent. personally, i thinbk smith will, but i just cant see larsson getting one. and i know i may be alone, but i think his perfroances during his time were quite dissapointing, as i expected more. but i know he is old, and i would love top see him get one, but i just cant see it happpening. COME ON SMITHY!!
