Mikael Silvestre assured everyone that he would stay at Old Trafford as Fergie still has confidence in him.
Silvestre started only six league games this season and has not played at all since March when he dislocated his shoulder in the Champions League game against Lille.
With Gerard Pique and Jonny Evans expected to be back at Old Trafford next season, many (including me) thought Silvestre would have no place in Fergie's plans. The Frenchman, however, thinks otherwise.
'I still have two years left on my contract and the manager did everything to keep me here last summer,' he told the Daily Star Sunday.
'He even told me recently he still has confidence in me, so I can confirm that I will be in Manchester next year.'
I'm inclined to believe you, Mikael but if we want to be rational then we must say that with Pique and/or Evans here, at least one of our defenders has to go. And the most likely candidate is either Silvestre or Gaby Heinze though I'd be sad to see the back of either.
