Ronaldo Wins His 894th Award

Ronaldo Wins His 894th Award

Cristiano Ronaldo has been voted Writers' Player of the Year but the significance of that award can be summed up by the fact that Thierry Henry somehow landed it last season.

As you all know, Ronaldo won both PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards and it's the first time ever a player collected the Writers' award, too. Andy Gray was beaten to it by Emlyn Hughes in 1977 - the year when United denied Liverpool the Treble.

Didier Drogba, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs were running him close for the award so a word must go for them, too. But otherwise, congratulations to Ronaldo!

I just love it when arse and liverpool supporters come here, with all their petty jealousies. I can understand their problem: the league can't be won by penalty shoot-outs and in the case of Arsenal... well, they are just mediocre, with mediocre players.

Anyway, now let's be serious. Gooners fan, did not mean to offend you more than you meant to offend us so get over it and listen to me. The more sensible United fans kept on warning everyone who believed the hype that Ronaldo is not a complete player, not yet and he has much to prove before he could justify all the praise he received. He had an exceptional season but has to acquire the precious gift of Rooney: must be able to raise his game when it matters most. All the hype that surrounded him made him resentful in many fans' eyes, cause they are annoyed by the media and do not concentrate on the fact that Ronaldo, for all his sometimes shameful antics, went through a great deal of positive change in character and spirit. Hopefully this tendency will not cease.
