'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Juve Want A Gift

It seems that tabloid speculators have no sense of proportion: they value Heinze and Vidic at £11.5million.

Juventus, on the brink of promotion to Serie A after spending one season in the second tier of Italian football, have been linked to an army of players in recent months and sometimes absolutely ridiculous rumours popped up.

Like this one, about Gabriel Heinze and Nemanja Vidic. The cited fee £11.5million made me think. I do not believe for a moment that there's any truth in it, of course but that tabloid reporters have bottled it. Just look at the numbers.

This £11.5 million would be less that what we had paid for the two players so why would we sell them at this price? OK, I might accept Heinze's value has suffered thanks to his injury but Vidic's been a revelation, the best central defender of the Premiership this season. Surely noone would believe they would get him cheaply?

Fernando Torres is now surely a Manchester United player for next season, according to various sources but I'm highly sceptical. I'm not too sure about that either if we really want Arouna Kone of PSV. Arsenal are reportedly ready to bid for him, too but the Ivorian is believed to prefer United.

By the way, Arsenal. Their two main striker's been out for a long time and Arsene Wenger wants to ensure such a crisis doesn't engulf his team next season so he'll bid for erm, Louis Saha. Would love to see how Wenger reacts when he's asked about this rumour...
