In Football Manager, I always love the transfer window as it's a great passion for me to sign new players. In real life, however, it can be an annoying time of the year.
Of course the transfer window is not here yet but that will not deter the tabloids who are ready to come up with any speculation if that helps to sell the paper.
So, let's get it started. Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is reportedly a target for the Red Devils, therefore their scouts have infected every recent Ajax game. Having done so, they took back glowing reports - about Wesley Sneijder who could be on his way to Barcelona in the summer if Fergie does not wish to act quickly.
Gary Neville still performs impressively but he does not get younger and some suggested we should get a replacement. Reports link us with Micah Richards and that would mean we lock horns with Chelsea on a fourth front after the league, cup and the Champions League... getting the City man would be a cheeky transfer coup and probably a terribly expensive one.
Alexandre Pato of Internacional would be slightly cheaper than the England international but acquiring him would get us another Cristiano Ronaldo: 'I follow Italian football, it has a very high level and is incredibly tactical. For this reason, I believe you deserve to be world champions,' said Pato.
'It would be a beautiful challenge to play in Italy. But, I warn you, I will never stop my dribbling.
'I'm Brazilian and the many stepovers is almost a part of our culture. Beyond (AC Milan's) Ronaldo, the player that appeals to me most is Cristiano Ronaldo.'
Portuguese players are fashionable nowadays it seems so it's not a surprise that even Deco have been linked to us, again. The Barcelona midfielder is apparently wanted by Arsenal, too but I can't see us buying him... of course, rather him than Simao Sabrosa.
Liverpool are thought to be after him for a long time but why on earth are United linked with him? He's Liverpool-calibre and we have Ronaldo...
Owen Hargreaves is much more likely to arrive but Bayern warned United: they are not obliged to sell him. Well, no surprises there.
