Bolton Wanderers striker Nicolas Anelka has tipped Manchester United to win the league this year.
We've been having to fight with a seemingly endless stream on injuries since Mourinho commented we had been lucky this season regarding our players' fitness. So we have ample reason to be worried when Nicolas Anelka says we will win the Premiership.
'It's going to be a tough game, because United are on really good form and they are playing very well at the moment,' he told United Review.
'They have top players, like Rooney and Ronaldo, and I don`t think anyone will catch them in the Premier League this season.
That sounds pretty good, eh? The last time he dared to make such predictions was in 2003 (or I do not remember his other suggestions). His Manchester City side were just trounced 5-1 by Arsenal at Maine Road and he outlined his prophecy after the game: the Gunners, as by far the best side in England, would have no trouble in wrapping up the title.
You know what I mean, don't you? Of course, the mighty Red Devils left Arsenal in the dust that season due a magnificent spring run. I'm not sure it was the Anelke jinx that drained the confidence out of the gooners but I hope his words will have no negative effect on us...
Erm... looking back on what I have written so far, it seems I'm pretty superstitous. Well, I am.
Oh, by the way, Anelka visits Old Trafford on Saturday with his Bolton mates in an attempt to defy his own words and try to help Chelsea win the title.
"Big teams like United do not enjoy playing against us because we give them no time to settle on the ball," he said.
"We still have to play Chelsea after Manchester United and that is going to be very hard to get a result. But anything is possible at Bolton.'
