Foster Gutted

Foster Gutted

Ben Foster admitted he would rather see Middlesbrough progress at Old Trafford next Monday as a United victory would mean he can't play in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

Monday's draw paired Watford with United or Boro and Foster, who is on loan at the Hornets, might miss out on one of the most important matches of the club's history if United beat Middlesbrough in a replay at Old Trafford.

'There was always a chance this could happen and I would be gutted if it did and we end up playing United in the semi-final. But I can only get on with it.

'I've got mixed emotions. Don't ask me how I'll feel if we get them after the replay, it's bad enough knowing I might miss out in these circumstances.'

He paid tribute to his Watford team-mates, though it's almost completely down to him that the Hornets survived their quarter-final tie with Plymouth who created a host of chances but were unable to find a way past our impressive loanee.

'The Watford lads will not fear anything,' he said. 'If I make it through to Wembley it will be down to them.'
