The Latest Manchester United Contract News
We`re at that stage of the season where, behind the scenes, discussions are going on as to which players whom are approaching the end of their contracts will be offered extensions.
Manchester United, as a club, have to assess their option and act accordingly, but also considering that additions to the club will be forthcoming in the summer and there is a budget sheet to be balanced.
To that effect, the local media news source, the Manchester Evening News, is championing the suggestion that decisions have been made with regards to the futures of six of our squad who find themselves in a situation whereby there current deals are approaching their expiry date.
Our referenced source is reporting that it has been decided that the following trio will be awarded contract extensions:
• Ashley Young
• Daley Blind
• Sam Johnstone (currently on a season-long loan at Aston Villa)
However, the news is not so positive for another trio of our squad.
Our aforementioned source is reporting that the following trio are not going to be retained?
• Marouane Fellaini
• Michael Carrick
• Zlatan Ibrahimovic
With regards to Fellaini, it would seem to confirm that the Belgian international has decided that his future does, as speculation in recent months has suggested, lie elsewhere.
As for Carrick, the midfielder has already declared that he will be hanging his boots up at the end of this season with a move into the coaching side of things, at Old Trafford, confirmed.
Although Ibrahimovic recovered from a serious knee injury to be awarded a new short-term deal, his form hasn`t been up to the standards of last season with the Swedish international barely featuring. Throw into the mix the continued hints that a future in the US beckons for the ageing striker, the revelation that a contract extension will not be offered doesn`t surprise us.
But what are your views on the subject matter, do you concur with the clubs decision on the six-named players?
