Fergie Does Not Fear Chelsea

Manchester United are still six points clear of Chelsea but Sir Alex Ferguson does not think we should concentrate on our chasers.

The Scot did not have much words for the 2-0 win over Charlton and I can't blame him, it was an absolutely forgettable match.

'We are playing well and with a lot of confidence,' he said.

'Sometimes in these situations, there is a tendency to look over your shoulder and concentrate on the team that is chasing.

'I prefer to look forward because we have some really promising games coming up.

'We have an FA Cup tie against Reading next week, which should be terrific and that is all we should be concentrating it on now.'

'We need to give everyone some miles on the clock because you never know when you might need them.'

I can't forget the fact that the weekend after next will see the league resume and United will visit Fulham whilst Chelsea lock horns with Arsenal in the League Cup final. A victory at Fulham would put us nine points clear at the top that might cause Chelsea to feel the heat.

Anyway, Reading and Lille coming up so I should forget about the league.

But also you need to have that reason to keep picking up 3 points. One slip up and Chelsea are right back in there.

Fair comment. At the moment the Red Devils are in the box seat!
