Ronaldo's Going Nowhere

Barcelona vice-president Fernan Soriano confirmed that the Catalan club had made no approach to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Barcelona sporting director and former player Txiki Beguiristain was watching the Brazil-Portugal international friendly (0-2) at the seats of the Emirates Stadium in the company of Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo's agent. That of course gave ammunition to rumour-hunters about Ronaldo's possible summer transfer to the Camp Nou.

Fortunately, Soriano moved to dispel these speculations.

'Jorge Mendes is the agent for many of our players, including Deco, so the meeting doesn't mean anything,' he told BBC Radio Five Live. 'There has been no approach to the player or Manchester United.'

'In general terms, we do like to sign the best players in the world but we already have Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi in this type of position.'

It's good to know that Barca's vice-president is aware of the fact that his team does not need Ronaldo at all...

I will not write about Ronaldo rumours until we hear some solid facts about him.
